Medical staff opportunities in California prisons

We cannot create a constitutionally adequate medical care system in California's prisons without qualified, permanent medical professionals who are dedicated to the mission. The work is clinically challenging and encompasses a wide variety of patient conditions from chronic illness and long-term care needs to emergency, trauma and communicable disease.

In his first six months, Receiver Robert Sillen moved to improve the salary levels for medical staff, which now are competitively aligned with those offered at University of California hospitals. The Receiver strongly encourages high-quality medical professionals to join the prison system and be a part of the exciting changes underway to improve care and achieve a true clinical environment.

We are in the process of developing a recruitment and hiring process to meet the needs of incoming staff. In the meantime, here is information regarding current staff salaries and benefits:
